Brecon Beast 109k ride 2010

Chris (Doc) rode the Brecon Beast getting round the 109km route in just under 8 hours, the fastest guy managed just over 4 hours!! I wasn't riding slowly either and didn't stop too much.

A lot of the route was quite rocky with lots of loose rock to add to the excitement, but there were green moorland tracks, small amounts of muddy singletrack and a few areas of liquid mud that was nearly crankshaft deep. There were 3 longish road sections to connect the off road, but they were a relief in a way.

There were a few river crossings which were fun with some brutish uphills and some fantastic descents. Over 600 started one of two routes, 60 or 100 and I chose the latter. Most people finished but one or two did crash out, they had mountain rescue and parameidcs out at various sections, on the steep descent in the pics was a guy waiting with lots of splints to fix the fractures! When I went by he'd not needed them yet.

It's certainly a good day out and lots of fun, maybe a few more might like to try it next year.
